SARAH WEEKS was born and raised in Ann Arbor, Michigan. She has been writing children’s picture books and novels for the past thirty years. She is a graduate of Hampshire College and NYU and is currently an adjunct faculty member in the prestigious Writing Program at the New School University in New York City, where she teaches an MFA workshop on Writing For Children and young adults.
Ms. Weeks is well known for her Early Readers, Picture Books, Chapter Books and Novels for young readers. Her two newest titles are SAVE ME A SEAT, a novel, and GLAMOURPUSS, a picture book illustrated by David Small. Ms. Weeks’ Young Adult novel, SO B. IT, a New York Times and Los Angeles times best seller, was awarded the 2004 Parents Choice Gold medal in addition to numerous state book awards including the Rebecca Caudill Award and the William Allen White Award. In 2005 Sarah helped found A.R.T. (Authors Readers Theatre), a group of authors, which includes Avi, Pam Munoz Ryan, Richard Peck, Katherine Paterson, Brian Selznick, Bruce Coville, Cynthia DeFelice, Augusta Scattergood and herself. A.R.T. performs dramatic staged readings at large venues throughout the country.
Sarah is a tireless promoter, visiting schools from coast to coast, talking to children (grades K through 8) about writing, reading her books, serving as author-in-residence, and speaking to teachers and librarians at national conferences. She is married to Jim Fyfe, a television segment producer. She has two grown sons and a step-daughter. Sarah splits her time between her homes in Nyack, NY and Callicoon Center, NY.
