This is a parody of H. Rider Haggard's "She" written in 1887 with Walter Herries Pollock. Andrew Lang was a great Scots man of letters. He was a poet, novelist, and literary critic, and contributor to anthropology. Nowadays he is best known as one of the most important collector of folk and fairy tales.
