Colonel Samuel Adams Drake (1833-1905) was an author of a large number of popular legendary and history works of New England and the United States. From 1858 until the beginning of the civil war he served as a veteran and also a correspondent of The Associated Press in Kansas. His works include: Old Landmarks and Historic Personages of Boston (1873), Nooks and Corners of the New England Coast (1875), Old Landmarks and Historic Fields of Middlesex (1876) and The Campaign of Trenton, 1776-77 (1895).
